Utrillo painted Montmartre again and again — he was born there, grew up there, and never managed to leave. In his "white period" he mixed plaster, sand and glue into the white paint so the house walls would feel like real walls; he wanted the roughness itself, not a picture of it.

Here Rami Alon’s material does by itself what Utrillo was chasing. Utrillo mixed plaster and sand into his paint to imitate stone — Rami works in the stone itself, and the roughness Utrillo tried to fake is here the natural state.
