About this work
By 1986 Haring no longer painted in secret. That year he opened the Pop Shop in New York, a store that sold his figures cheaply on T-shirts and stickers so that anyone could own one — and in the autumn he painted a mural on the Berlin Wall.
A single black figure bends over, arms spread, with two yellow circles on its body; around it solid orange and a blue border. Four colours only, and not one stone of transition between them.
