About this work
"The Bride" was still on the easel when Klimt died in 1918. It is openly unfinished: on the right the figures are still nude, because Klimt painted the body first and clothed it afterwards, and bare canvas shows between the forms. The photographer Moriz Nähr documented the empty studio days after his death.
This is the largest decision among the eight homages. Mosaic tolerates no empty ground — it has no equivalent for bare canvas. To make "The Bride", Rami Alon had to decide what happens in every centimetre Klimt never reached, and close it.
